Guys working hard to defend our precious!

I thought one of the avatars made a pretty good point about tradeoffs :)

Hey I know that avatar!

It's fun defending Maxwell but I think I was getting a bit err, bitchy? Hehe, so I went to bed. Seriously announcing a new version/feature/anything on that forum is like announcing free drinks at a pessimism convention, they come flocking from miles away!

With the way technology is speeding things up Light tracers like Maxwell will be common day as they will be able to render whatever at a better quality just as fast :).

Maybe so, but this type of rendering will always get trashed and you as a user of it will never be seen as serious. People will think you're just a slacker sitting at home in your underwear all day and night long waiting for noise to clear in your rendering. Wonder if it's time to learn a new normal tool like Vray or mental ray so maybe there's a chance to be accepted by the rest of the crowd. :(

I've yet to meet a paying client who gives a crap what renderer I use...

Alright, that's good dmeyer. However paying clients is a different crowd from users like what you find on CGTalk. They are all such professionals there that they see Maxwell more like a toy, a experimental tool for the few who dare to play with fire at a gasstation. If you know what i mean..
If they think it's not a real pro tool we use then our work will never be accepted as serious no matter what skills a Maxwell artist has. You're still considered a noob just because you use a tool which has fewer parameters and requires less technical skill to master than as a example Vray and mental ray do which have a large amount of values you adjust everywhere. I know this is stupid but it's the feeling i keep getting from talking to these people and it happens not just there but on all forums.

Dear forum participants :D Lets try not to start the same depressing conversation on this forum as well. Who gives a crap what others tell you which tools you should be using to create your images. If you have the time and energy to discuss these things yet again on other forums, go ahead, but lets try and stick to the new release in this thread.

See what you've done , now you woke him up

Hope to see more nice new things, especially on MXStudio, which leaves a lot to be desired, or so.

I can't believe its only Wednesday, and only 5 days since the first V2 preview... Amazing how dormant the forums had become, and how now I am catching myself checking the announcements twice a day...

Will we get more treats this friday? Would be fun to make it a weekly thing... would make the weeks go by faster!
