There's two images, currently. :)

Maxwell V2, Indigo V2, Thea, Modo 401 ... Good timing, with the crisis and all.

What the hell is that ?????????

This stuff makes me laugh ....

First off, .. that's not my model or render, but the odds in someone coming up with the exact same subject material is like Zero. I would to have emperical evidence to convince me otherwise. lol. My educated guess is that the modeler saw the original thread, liked the model, .. snared the reference photos and made a new one. I don't usually get irked, .. but this one irks the shit out of me -- especially when they're using it to push some Maxwell-wannabe. Do something original .... how hard can it be ?

Whatever .....

Original thread from a year ago: http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... hilit=sony

Real McCoy ....

Good heads up Bubba .....

Indeed a strange coincidence. I was thinking maybe you were in with this new renderer until I saw someone else's name on the image. I'd say 90% chance, they saw your model and got inspired. Compliment? :D

I'd say the only thing it has on yours is the SSS plastic. (...and the SSS looks pretty clean)

More like 100.00% chance .... It's a rare radio, ...just try and find an image through Google -- you will find none. Sony 8r-42. Incidentally, ....that's why his model is different. He mistakenly put the Sony on the lens .... it's actually on the interior back panel and so are the dial hashes. He just read the images wrong.

As far a the SSS goes ..... I just didn't apply one. Maybe I'll re-render, maybe not.

ivox, I'd be really pi**ed off as well. The trouble is, in this age of digital media, copyright issues are really hard to track down (although not impossible - it depends on your commitment). I would probably contact the Thea forum admin's and let them know about the issue. Whether they care or not is another issue!

You mean like designing your own radio, rather than using someone else's design? Gentlemen, I have no intention of 'irking' anyone, but this discussion is absurd.

I, personally, don't think it's an important issue but it's not a question of a radio design either...it's a question of selling a renderer with a copy of a render made by a user of another renderer.

...so for me the correct point is, as ivox say "Do something original .... how hard can it be ?" ,which for me means "do something else and everyone will be happy" instead of "look my render/renderer is better than yours" or "we also have a renderer that can do that"

...just fair play, get your own line ...but for sure let's leave an open page for a coincidence

i am with iker on this one.. really, i saw the thea image yesterday (and i remembered ivox's wip).. and i got the feel of a cheap commercial for washing powder.. you know..mine is washing whiter than yours.. and i think nobody wants another discussion like that, as it is really absurd.

I am going to get a lot of sh*t for this ... :|

Let me start off by saying I like both images. They show great technical mastery. I can only respect the gentlemen who made them. Really - no irony involved here.

Yet, what they do not show, is a lot of creativity. Both are pretty much straightforward product shots. I could be wrong, obviously, but it looks to me there really isn't much intellectual property to be defended here.

Imagine Sony would complain about these renders. Most of us would find that somewhat odd, to put it mildly. Nevertheless, Sony has far more intellectual property to claim here than Ivox or That Other Guy.

Does this make sense?

Again, not trying to irk anyone - let alone start a flame war.
