Hey Tom, thanks for all the information, I am really looking forward to the v2 Render engine.

I have a couple of comments:

- I think it would be sometimes useful to have an "area" of interest in the render (like ipr in maya) where you just select it and then some "importance sampling" takes place just in that region that the camera "sees". I would be ok with a feature that would allow me to have a cleaner region of an image, and I think by definition, this would still be unbiased. Hopefully you guys have given some thought to this.

- 64 - bit support in all platforms. Supporting different platforms seems a tall order for any software project. It seems Qt will make things easier for this. Maya it seems has been ported to Qt, no official word on it yet, but it seems that's a big rumor. Anyway, it would be interesting to see Maxwell released on all platforms at the same time with all the same improvements (Why is it that the linux version is faster? just curious!) Have you guys given thought in improving 64-bit platform support? Maybe by adopting Qt? I hope the mac version is coming because otherwise I will have to seriously switch to linux.

Otherwise I don't have any complaints, just praises. I think Maxwell is a very good renderer and it seems to me it will be usable in animations in a couple of years. Displacement support and sky models were a nice surprise. i can hardly wait what's in store for 2.0 I guess volumetric effects will make my day or true SSS that resembles human flesh.

But as I said, I am happy with Maxwell, right now, the way it is. It has shown me I need to improve MY texturing and modeling skills.

Congratulations Tom on a great product, it does show all the hard work you guys have put in it.

And if Mike Verta says it is good... I can HARDLY wait.

Keep up the good work.

+1 for RealMac Support (4xMacPro waiting to be abused) Not willing to switch to linux or Windows. It was one of the reasons we bought Maxwell.

I think partial reveals via separate installments make sense :D

Great news about the speed improvements. :D

License question?

I bought one license in the beginning and since then it split into 8 + 0 node licenses.

Will I have to purchase upgrade price per license (8 x $upgrade price) or is it just one price upgrade from the current license file that was provide by NL?

Thank you,

Tom

Someone has already asked this... Is Maxwell 2.0 using RS2 or is it an improved version of RS1?
I mean, is the dielectrics problem gone? :?:

JTB , Tom has already answer to the RS2 question, take a look:
Tom wrote: We don't have that core names, anymore. So, V2.0 has its own brandnew core which is not improved or renewed of something from the past. If you wonder, we don't give a public code name to it and its features are secret until every single announcement and until the release.
