I wanted to see how an interior render would do with only sunlight, but came out REALLY orange. I don't see any place to change the sun output color...turbidity, ozone???

Lat/long was set for Nashville, TN, time 145pm, end of June.

UPDATE: Just found it...in the plug-in manual No need for reply...will try some different settings there and re-render.

Hi Joe,

You can adjust the color of the Sun using the Sun Temperature parameter in the Physical Sky panel, but out of the box, it should already be correct for Earth's Sun (the default temperature is 5777 Kelvin). If the picture is taken at 1:45 in the afternoon, it would seem that all the light you're getting from it is coming to the interior indirectly by bouncing off the floor, which has a yellowish texture, so that would explain at least some of the effect. Secondly, Maxwell doesn't have a white-balance setting like some cameras would, so you may consider adjusting the image in post, as you might with a photo. Also, turbidity, etc., will have an effect on this; if you wonder what those things do, you can try clicking the question-mark button in the top-right of the Scene Manager to toggle open the plugin's help window, then click on the various parameters - doing so will bring up descriptions of what the each parameter does. You might also try downloading some different .sky files from the Maxwell Sky site just to see how they look, and how they're put together.

If you wanted to delete most everything out of the space and send what's left over, I'd be willing to take a look (I think you sent me part of this scene in C4D before, but it would be better if I could work with the same setup, rather than trying to duplicate it).

JD, thank you for the good (as always) reply. You must have been writing this at the same time that I found the answer in the plugin manual....I'm going to spend some time reading this (both the plugin and MW manuals) so I don't have to ask dumb questions You've spent a lot of time writing the plugin manual and it looks like many of my questions will be answered there.

I found out that the problem was that the default sky setting is "sky dome". When I selected physical sky it turned out as expected...ran a "quick" (i.e. just hit "render") render last night. I do see some material mapping issues....ughh, thought that darker wood was tileable

The help menu looks good, although nothing like visuals, like what a turbidity of 0 looks like versus a value of 1. One the VRay (Chaosgroup) site there are some really good examples of that as well as how the ozone values affect the color...so have got a good sense of that.
