Hi.

My origin is windows. This is where I came from...
Due to new job - a while ago - I first came in touch with a mac.
Nice thing to have... one of my favourites: the finder, amongst other nice features, it hase this shortcut-thingy on a side bar... you can drag&drop your fav. folders there to have an immediate acces to them...
Vista, I see, seems to have something similar...

What about XP?

It seems, that I am not able to find any addition-like thing that could pimp my explorer to have this kind of quick access... for xp there are thousands of little additional gimmicks here and there, but no sidebar thing???

Anyone? Thx.

hehe... i explained it all wrong obviously.... i'm not looking for a dock...
this finder thing has got shortcut not only to applications but to folders on your harddisk. it's very comfortable using shortcuts to folders when you gotta reach files in specific folders on a regular basis...

i'm not at work now, otherwise I'd have made s scrshot of the finder to show what i mean... but thx anyway...

mashium123 i think you are looking for this:

http://www.hyperionics.com/files/index.asp

btw. the normal explorer window does have a favourites for folder shortcuts.. but in file open / save diaplog it does not.. but that is what the tool above can do!

or if you want to change the places bar on the open/save dialogs install tweakUI from microsoft.. nice tool for many things:

@polynurb:
yep! that's what i was looking for... unfortunately it comes not half as nice and smooth as on mac... there you got it big and easy as your side bar, quite different the microsoft-style :) but still: this is what i was aiming at... thx a lot.
I'm also gonna try and look at the tweak ui thingy...

btw: normal explorer has does have favs for folders??? where's that? or do you mean the 4-5 standard places that are shown, when you wnat to save things... they are always the same locations aren't they?...

@Max
thx max, i ince tried that a while ago... still have it on the desktop... but.. never could get used to it... it seems, that this is somethimg like the total opposite of the convenience of the mac-finder... it's like... too much of everything... but that's just me...
