Does anyone use a spyder for monitor calibration?
are there any that should be avoided, or that you recommend?

I have a Spyder and a Huey and I would recommend the Spyder.

I used a spyder 2 suite and a lacie blue eye - the blue eye calibrated with less error. But I'm not sure about spyder 3.

For visual control of the calibration control I use the images from

I personally don't trust the accuracy of Spyder's.
