Hi Hervé,

i think the laCie you mention is a rebranded samsung with LED backlight

http://monitor.samsung.de/produkte/deta ... show=feats

maybe laCie finetunes the monitors and provides better color management software, but the samsung you can get online for about 1.700€.

I am using the 20" version of the samsung called XL20.
It is a very good screen and comes with an X-rite Eye-One Display 2 calibrator.
The samsung calibration software sucks, i couldn't use it with my graphics card.. but it also worked with the eye-one match3 program which is much better anyway.

..otoh .. if you're willing to spend the money for the laCie i would also consider this screen:

http://www.eizo.fr/products/lcd/SX3031W/index.asp

it is only 12-bit lut but still 97% Adobe RGB.+5year warranty and for sure once you work on 30" you'll love it!

Eizos are very nice. We nothing else for preprint in ads etc.
Make sure you get one with hardware calibration and find a way to get yours calibrated at your working place. Moving a monitor can get it off calibration.

There is a cheap new Eizo that came out last year I think its 21", has hardware calibration and is under 1000 €.

I also vote for Eizo, got a 24' SX model last year and it's a charm, and it's not even calibrated!!!

Just to contribute to the mess, i'd wait for the Nec wuxi2 serie, seems to be quite promising. I'll go with the 2690 as soon as it will be on stores!

I havn't heard about this new one Mattia mentioned,
but I would wouldn't want to buy something that has just been released, not properly tested over a longer timerange and perhaps even has some issues.

New technology is nice...when it has stood the test of time
