Please post here anything else (not relating to Maxwell technical matters)

I *think* what he's trying to say is: He'd like to update to the new Xeon's I7, but not on their release date, could be later this year. Maybe because he wants to wait until they become a little bit cheaper or to see if they have any
childhood diseases... but these are just my interpretations ;)
I'll buy one as soon as possible. Working on a five year old machine now, and it's just no pleasure.

I would avoid Apple; they are not professional machines in my opinion.
You will get alot more for your money if you build your own IBM rig from parts, and can spec Mobo, ram, and cpus exactly. Apple is way too proprietry for 3d users. Save the Apple for your mum.......

+1 deflix, Apple products are great, but talking about budget, that's not the right choice.
Put the same money as in a Mac pro, in a own built PC, and you'll have more power, without paying the brand or hardware parts you don't need or already have in your actual pc

September-November 2009 is perhaps the best time, but I can afford to go for it in march.

My best friend work for IBM, and he is in no need of money.
Still he can not deside to take this step, he even teached me all I know with computers.

It´s an oxymoron, so is life.
He means get the lower end model -- as in the 920.

Second part he's saying that his friend has plenty of cash, ..yet the price differential between say the 920 and 965 is just too much --- his friend can't justify the expenditure despite having the means to do so.

or maybe everyone really does understand, but likes to mess with knurrebusk and I'm the fool ? .... lol.

You might be right. I totally agree on the fact that the 965 costs way more and doesn't bring so much more power. buying a 920 is much more reasonable if you don't want to throw your money out of the window.

Here my take:

He'll definitely buy an i7 Xeon, but not right away. He wants to wait until Sep/Nov (price drop) though he could afford one in March already.

His best friend works at IBM and is a rich motherfucker, yet even he is hesitating to buy such a chip/system. And he knows his shit!

And what exactly is "It's" ?

Is "It's" the conundrum or is the phrase a conundrum ? I guess that is a conundrum itself?
So what do we have -- 3 conundrums all gift wrapped into one by our friend knurrebusk ? Or are you inserting a conundrum into one where there is none ? ? ? Man, .. I'm going to work. ....signed off.

Knurrebusk, you've launched a game as Coluche did here in france, "The Schmilblick", where people searched for ages what it could be a Schmilblick.
Now one knows it was just an egg

The decision to bite the bullet and be an early adopter of new technology, or to wait for prices to go down (risking that by then new technologies will have surely emerged, leaving you with another conundrum).
