sweet trees you bought there...

well, but that's the beauty of natFX too (as the onyx garden suite): you can not only buy trees but a large range of trees, shrubs, ferns and similar veggies. and they can be produced by age and season pretty automated ...

it's gonna be fun ! :)

ah i cannot wait for my license to arrive .. :)

my script that i made now is ready to automatically convert all natFX shaders to mxm shaders the way i want and it works.

also, double materials that come in are removed and the color maps and color channels can be desaturated if needed, so those leafs and bark textures don't look so cgish ! yay !

i LOVE MEL !

Hi deadalvs
you said, don't buy the Dosch trees.
Are they a waste of money?
They should be a ok for a quick project?

Thanks

hey Rich !

sorry, i knew i had forgotten something .. :)

* * *

well, i've taken an other look at the maxwell render dosch trees. they're certainly perfectly usable.

but it's a personal issue that i like high-poly meshes better than most of those 5 to 10K poly trees. i've looked at those dosch trees and they all look tailored and seem to have a little too large leafs. they look like miniatures for a doll house .. (sorry  )

maybe check out this link..
http://commerce.vismasters.com/catalog/ ... oduct=4513

i mean i've been working in a landscape architecture office and my bosses always preferred photos over 3d models because of their realism. take a look at a bunch of tree fotos at google (really do it !) and then go back to dosch's pdf and you will see that all those trees look merely symmetric and overly saturated in the greens of their standard textures.
( i always felt that there's nothing more disturbing in an image than overly green plants in a decent render. )

hmm .. i really cannot recommend anything to buy that's the perfect solution. i can just say: decide if you wanna go LOPOLY or HIPOLY.

for lopoly certainly you can buy one of the two mentioned series.
for hipoly go for something more expensive like onyx garden suite ( http://www.onyxtree.com/ ). the HUGE advantage of that you can generate lots and lots of models of the same species and save the models. costs 595 $ though. or natFX, but is even more expensive !

i hope this helps a little !

Thanks Matt,
I guess my concern is that I work with Rhino, most of these are for Max.
I have Max 2009 but dont realy use it.. Done all my modelling in Rhino.

I e-mail dosch but nothing back. Do these come as OBJ files do you know?

Thanks again.

i just remembered something important that was mentioned once before in the thread !

be sure that:
the maxwell tree dvd ships JUST as .mxs !
though studio can export .obj ..

* * *

the normal tree series (trees and conifers) ships as 3DS, 3dsmax (V8+), Lightwave LWO (Ver. 6+), Cinema4D (Ver. 8+), Maya (V5+), SoftimageXSI, OBJ und VRML

My question will be is that a maxwell render?

sure that is ! no problem !

instances save just one copy of the tree into ram but can render thousands !

Finally something that make me wake up!
Yes! Maxwell is better.

But I need algorythms for larger areas, like replicating scattering of small plants on larger areas, in diverse slopes.

Maxwell is getting faster , we know.
The Vue plugin/replacement may not be that far.

I´m not a joke, but cloce to it he he.

Ting Tong is anong.
