the other day i was browsing the net for tech stuff, when i came across these neat mini-itx boards from intel (17x17cm), which even support quadcores now... following some links i hit this thread:
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthre ... st15061655
.. in case you don't follow the link.. i did NOT model the thing myself..
credits go to a SolidWorks freak named "nNifty"
im just exploiting it..

looking further i found a half way decent top perspective shot of the mainboard in a online review, so i felt like texturing it...
before I had to do some reconstruction/correction; i didn't do it to pixel perfection.. but tried to get the things in the right place;
a rhino wire screenshot worked as template :

original photograph:

corrected:

it was a little work to join all the seperate .igs surfaces back into solids, once that was done i created a single planar projector for all the geometry. there is only one material in the scene, using 2bsdf layers for a coating effect.
shots from textured rhino viewport:

and the first render with the corrected texture. lighting is done via the B&W studio hdr set in the goodies section. SL 19.70

obviously a single material can't produce the 100% correct representation.. ( some plastics too shiny and there should be some rubber parts) but this was more about a little texturing practice.. which happened to really surprise me..
c&c very welcome,
:p
