Hi everyone,

We're a product design consultancy based in Cheshire in the UK. We've been using Maxwell for a while now so I thought it about time I got my act together and posted some of our work.

All work has been designed and modelled (Alias and I-Deas) by us. Mostly ipod docks and DAB/Internet radios on this gallery (designed for Revo, thanks to the boys there!).....a couple of cameras and some medical equipment aswell. Renderings are from 2005-2009. Simple setups, mainly because we're usually working to a deadline that doesn't allow for any experimentation. The renders have been used for client approval, pack shots and marketing collateral.

All comments and tips warmly welcomed.

Edit 23/03/10.....We have now completed our website. http://www.dekode.co.uk/ Most of the images in the projects section are Maxwell. Comments welcome.

I can now show our latest design for Revo.....It's an internet, DAB/DAB+ radio with iPod docking. Materials are pressed/machined aluminium, walnut and soft-touch plastics. It has just won a Red Dot award for 2010. More about the design of the product can be found as a featured article on Core 77:

The product renders are shown at the top of this post. I hope you like the design (and the renders!)

Very nice! I guess this proves it all comes down to proper and detailed modeling in the end..

Thanks for all the positive comments. I would agree with the modeling remark....all these products are designed and modeled for production rather than just visualisation, so all the detail is put in (draft, 0.1mm fillets etc). It may not seem a big deal, but the way light hits a 0.1mm edge fillet, even on a perceived sharp edge, is what makes the eye believe it's real.

Nifty! Some of them have slight aliasing (sharp resize in PS?), which gives them away a bit. Other than that your works are really great, especially the materials.

yes....agree. No sharpening in PS but some pretty poor jpeg compression on a few. I should resize them properly I think. We apply most of the graphics in PS as quite often the renderings need to go out with different logos and model names for OEM sales (saves on multiple renders)....I've noticed quite a few anti-aliasing issues with .png files when we distort them to fit the perspective.

Any better ways out there of doing this?
