Seriously, like either one of these clowns could make a difference? It will be business as usual. Hopefully I am wrong.

When you give, it is a help-out. When someone takes from you in order to give, it is a hand-out. It is the taking part which I cannot logically condone and as such, I did not use the word 'thug' accidentally. I find it ironic that those who embrace a 'do harm to none' philosophy are so often cast in the negative light. You do realize that the concept of government-sponsored 'charity' cannot be accomplished without the very real threat of violence against completely innocent parties, don't you? I am sincerely curious to understand how you resolve this dichotomy, because for the life of me I cannot.

To see the excitement and sense of pride coming from my own kids and at the same time having the opportunity to explain to them the significance of this election day...it's important and memorable.

How about a few examples?

Regarding the election, BBC has a nice spread on the reaction from around the world. Many of us here do understand the importance of being a good citizen of the world community and we believe our President-elect shares this belief, too. It is refreshing.

I have two children and they were on top of the election happenings. My daughter was caught up in last night's excitement and really understood the historic significance. Watching her track the voting, while finishing homework, was fun and memorable. She will be voting in the 2012 general election.

KurtS, there are many rankings that show the U.S. to be imperfect and we are not perfect. Now, we have someone in office that will hopefully work to improve our standing in the rankings. BTW, the country closest to being "perfect"? Denmark. It is near the top of a wide range of rankings. And: Reuters, "And the world's happiest country is..", http://www.reuters.com/article/oddly...45488820080701
Amazing.

Ever heard of the IRS and what they can do if you don't give to their charity?

I am actually disappointed with the result ...

The sick and twisted masochistic political side of me really wanted to see Palin as president. Now everything is ruined...

I'm really gonna miss these kind of posts .....

Like the one on the right. Hate the one on the left.
You hate lewis?
Ok, maybe his nylon suit is a bit of a shocker, but how can you not be blown away with what he's done in his 23 years?

It's truly great to think there'll now be a U.S president of ethnicity.........however the true powers behind the throne are still there, screwing us all & the planet to boot.

Are you serious, or just being argumentative? Because really, I wouldn't even know where to begin. Let me just suggest some good reading: The Law by Frédéric Bastiat, and Civil Disobedience by Henry David Thoreau.

JDHill, I am serious and not being argumentative. How about just six examples that support your statement. (Edit: quote deleted by author. Too extreme, my apologies.)

Bubbaloo, if you believe the IRS is a charity, fine. You are, however, both a contributor to and a recipient of the money that organization collects. BTW, I am no fan of the IRS or unnecessary government. ("Small Government", it needs to be understood, has brought pain and suffering with the housing, banking and investment crash, death and suffering of animals resulting from importing foods containing poisons, children being exposed to toys that are dangerous, a health system 37th in the world, and on and on.)
