If not erase... just move/transfer the off topic posts to the main forum.

here's more than 6 thousand people and we can still consider important things
there's no warning level crowd about wasted messages...
i understand you junago and i also agree w/ 8etty.
NL is very busy as you told and I prefer them am with codelines rather than here.
we're all here to make this forum stand alive and healthy

I agree, no use in having a bunch of seperate forums if were not going to use them the right way. Whenever i register to a new forum i at least take the time to read and understand where to post questions.
I come to the user gallery to see finished works, not wips or questions.

But then again, couldnt you have posted this topic in another forum, this is just another thread taking up space in the user gallery.

i agree with you junago
human being is strange really
i cannot understand that:
they are clever enough to use maxwell but stupid enough to send WIP under gallery section...
do not take may words offensive please, i just want to be clear :D

And ofcourse i agree as usual.. well almost. However they do need to do a major cleanup on the forum. It's not far away from turning into chaos now. But if a few people had semi-admin rights with only "move post" enabled then it would help them alot as they hardly have enough time to take care of the forum now as they're preparing for the big beta release now soon.

but in other hand,
it's easy to discard people....
i'm on making people join into this intelligent community rather than ignoring them.
this would be much harder but more friendly..
for example, one posts wrong or offensive here.
you know i offer him/her a beer
this is why?
we need to be friends in the end...
believe me there's nothing to attack people seriously.
i know you don't mean this also but some useless posts may be acceptable.
excuse me but i want to give an example:
buffos my friend, he made some rightful complaints for pages but we all know he's a good guy.
and of course we accept his thoughts... this is democracy.
i think you understand what i mean!
i love people and communication, even if they are skilled or not, even if they are clever or not....
i mean we cannot make things better with erasing posts.
i think victor thinks in a similar way...
because fluid dynamics has not so different nature than social dynamics

I'm not sure how someone could be offended if their thread was moved to the proper forum. It isn't up to anyone but the author to determine whether the work is finished or not. But it is up to the forum moderators to determine whether the thread was started in the proper forum.

Things I think should be moved are threads with "test" or "wip" in the title or threads posted for troubleshooting purposes or pleas for help. The author should be sent a PM to tell them where their thread has been moved to and perhaps a link to the forum rules could be included.

I prefer it when people have only one thread each in the User Gallery and add to that.

I think one reason people post newbie questions here is that there is no other forum which looks acceptable. The main Maxwell Render forum is full of intimidating topics being discussed by experts and developers, and I don't feel very comfortable posting a basic question there. I want to post in a forum with subjects like "WIP" and "Test" and "Help!!".

I think an "Experts Meet Newbies", or "Getting Started", or "Advice for your Bad Render" forum would be a good addition to the list.

I don't think this forum is becoming useless -- as Tom says, if there are a lot of posts, that's good -- but I agree it's not being used as designed. However, newbie questions need a place, and if this forum were moderated, they would have to go somewhere else.

I´m agree with junago. Finished works must be finished works.
What´s more, this forum is getting very very big and somethimes confusing.
Why not make a Maxwell elite image forum? filled with the polls results from the user gallery ones.

it is just a suggestion.

Cheers to all
