i read that the "orthographic camera" is new in Maxwell 1.7. Is it like the "camera corection" in 3DS-Mav the 2 perspectivecorrection. In Maxwell standalone and in the Max plugin i don'tz find the new 2D camera.
I found only the 3D camera. Where i found the new 2D camera.?
Hope someboidy can help me. In the newa PDF i found no information about it. Hope somebody can explain me.

There is no support for orthographic rendering (that I know of) ... what you read in the manual is about *Studio* viewport representation. Mxcl will not render ortho (it will do a very long shot, but not ortho)

Thomas, in the "what's new in1.7" is a point:

3D/ Ortho View Dropdown: You can switch a camera to be a perspective (3D) camera or an orthographic camera (2D). This is
useful if you wish to render an orthographic view while still having access to common camera parameters such as resolution and
ISO. Please note that focal length is not available when the camera is in orthographic mode

i thought that this is the new othographic camer 2D. Perhaps i don't understand this point not right. Hope you can explain me what this new camera make.

This feature is available in Studio, and it's not like Max camera correction (two point perspective) modifier. That is instead the shift lens feature, also available in the plugin. If you want to render ortho view at any resolution you can load your scene in Studio and switch the 3D camera to a 2D one from the dropdown found in the camera parameters panel.

Since with focus is not available in 2d camera mode the whole image stays in focus correct? Sorry if that is a silly question. I will give it try when I get a chance to test for myself.

thank's for the information, in the standlone program i don't find the 2D camera. Is it to find in the "camera parameters" where are 3D, ortho, left , right and top?

True, i were searching for this earlier today and could not find the 2d setting in the camera parameters. Where is it supposed to be ? there's only 3d and one setting for each view such as top, left, right and so on but no 2d.

Guys can you show me (even using Studio) that a 2d camera will render orthographic ?

You need to be able to prove that it is indeed orthographic instead of a perspective approximation at 1000mm focal length.

It is one thing what the Studio camera is showing on the OGL viewport and another thing what is actually being rendered.

Thomas, i rendered most time with the Max-plugin, so i am don't knew where i find the 2D camera in the studio, how it is written in the what's new in1.7" PDF. I think i knew what you mean, but in the PDF i don't understand where i find the 2D camera. In the studio i find only the 3D camera. Is the 3D camera also a 2D camera, when i change the focal length?

In Studio, select one camera (or create one) and then go to the "Camera Properties" panel ... look next to the Hidden / Locked checkboxes on top, there is a drop-down menu (that says '3D'). There you can select "Front", "Top" etc ...

ok, than the 2D camera is in Studio the top, right, left, front. So ít's now new that in in orthogonal view's posbble in studio to render if i understand you right. In the Max plugin it's not possible
It where nice if in Maxwell where a also a camera correction, because for architectural rendings this future is nice. So the edges of a building where in the view orthogonal.

How do I control the resolution in 2d top view. No matter what I put in for the resolution it always renders something small. It never renders what I put in for the resolution paramters.

Thanks,
