Hello,
I used to create my material with Maxwell Material editor (as I work with 3DSmax, Solidworks and SU I find it very convenient).

But it seems that function such as contrast/brightness/... clamp are not taken into account when I use import MXM from 3DS material editor (embed mat) ?

If I use referenced mat it's ok but I can't display the texture.

Which is the right way to take adavantages of the setting of MXED and to display textures in order to do the mapping ?

EDIT : sometimes diffuse map appears in referenced map...

Thank you,

Roch

The image adjustments are not currently supported in the plug-in, so the only way to use them is with a referenced material. You should be able to see the active texture for a referenced MXM in the Max viewport. Use the eye button in MXED under the preview image to select which texture is displayed (don't forget to save the MXM after you change the selection). If it doesn't work for you, please provide more details.

It's a known limitation that brightness etc are not taken into account in 3dsmax but referenced materials should show the texture in viewport; just update preview.

Edit: You were faster and better, Mihnea.

ok thank you, so much clearer and better. I do prefer this worflow, linked materials.

The interface is a bit confusing because when you tick referenced mat the dialog box asks you to save. You have to cancel and then to use the mat browser to load a mat as a referenced mat.

That's useful when trying to convert from embedded material type to linked type.

However, you can customize the default type (embedded/linked) for MaxwellMaterial from Customize->Preferences->Maxwell -> Default Material Type combobox. This type will be used when creating a new MaxwellMaterial.
