When rendering in blender how do you output an image i selected a directory and selected png but the file cant be seen? Any tips?

When rendered, press F3 to save image and then set filename AND the extension.


So for a png, filename.png
jpeg, filename.jpg

You need the image type extension otherwise you can't open the image file later.
