Wow, I like it! The liquid emitter gives it an arty look. Nice concept!

Hi Metin,

Here is my teapot. :)

Vase and lilies by Gijs De Zwart . Newell teapot modeled in Rhino from a photo.

Nice lighting atmosphere and composition, Frances. I like your work. Keep it coming.

Cool work Frances, your renderings give me a nostalgic taste ;) Even you've the same dielectic problem we all have :) I mean vase seems dark of course. You may also hava a slightly large scale bump over the table like a seawave for more irregular reflections instead of this constant mirror look. And a closer shot without horizon maybe better... In fact this forum is ain't for talking about our skills, however I feel I'm also having fun while finding the problems and solutions on the alpha.

Thanks Metin. :)

Thanks Tom. :)

Here is an updated version. The "horizon" is actually the top of a wall, but I can see why you thought otherwise. So I added some detail. I also reduced the reflection value and increased the roughness of the table's plastic material (.15, .15). This is after 30 min.

nooo  it was good indeed :) i mean the reflection.... it just need a bit of bump as it should be on large window glasses...still good anyway :) don't care.... horizon?! hmm.. yes actually i missed the detail ..huh... this is better of course... I've the same problems with roughness values etc... anybody can explain what all these amounts stand for? units I mean?.. what is .15? how rough? just a value between 0 and 1 is not so clear I think... It force us to make more experiments and time is killling :) A very easy realtime iconic roughness simulator window (a small one) can be done there. Maybe all you remember bryce's material editor. We should actually see what we're on, this would be better.

Hi Frances,

Could you please tell me how you decreased the reflection value? There is only a reflectivity map slot, not a value. I could use a little less intense reflections in my plastic box for Prop.

Did you maybe use a map type to create a solid color for the reflectivity slot (such as a gradient map with only one grey value) ? I can imagine that could work.

Thanks and cheers,

Metin

Hi Metin,

The darker the reflection color, the weaker the reflection. Just like VRay mats.

Here is the final render:

Image

I let it go for 8 hours, but I think there was not much change after 2 hrs., even for the glass. The sampling level reached 21 out of 25.

ehueee... i agree about waiting/having quality :) there must be an adjustable or educatable built-in noise analyser which can stop rendering when the wanted quality is achieved :)

in short, i mean you waste 6 hours

the diffult with the rendering above is that because most of the objects are white they might disappear ... this is a fine exaple where maxwell shines!

like if you try to render a blue fish in the sea - you might end up with an invisible fish!

I want to try that soon -

With finding nemo they were strugling a bit with the blue fish (short memory) don't remember the name...

Here's my try. Nothing fancy and a bit boring though.

rendertime: 4 hours.

I like it anyway, Renato. Maybe the Maxwell guys would like to open a teapot section in their gallery? :)
