It been a while since i done any more serious modeling, a loooong while (months) and i thought i'd see if i could try to revive my past modeling, texturing and rendering 'skills' by creating a scene with a 1950's inspired style tin toycar.

First wire from Modo, i know the shape of this looks stupid at the moment but wait until i finished modeling all the details and parts that should be on the car. :)

Maxi...

It looks good, not stupid! I like the wheels too.

I am working on a tin raygun from the same era.

Keep posting as you go...

Cheers, Ron

Ron: Thanks :) i thought it looked weird at first, the design is not the typical you see from the 50's as i'm trying to weave in my own stuff into this at the same time. The shape itself is pretty simple, it's mainly cylinders but with quite a bit more detail, and they're all hollow to allow internal geometry to be added if necessary. :)

You gotta start a wip with your raygun and show us, i'd like to see your progress on it.

Adrian: Thanks, yes i thought of creating something like what you said. Maybe with largescale stuff around it in a enviroment to give the whole scene a better sense of scale than what it would get in a normal studiosetup. :)

I been modeling some more now, adding details such as fins (temporary design until i can think of a better one), and i also added the exhaust pipes or whatever they're called :D

Another update.. things added & fixed are.
- thin metal thingy added to hold the exhaust pipes on the sides on the car in place.
- rewinder handle modeled
- rewinder mechanism inside the car body has been modeled to match the handle.

Things left to do..
- car interior (steeringwheel, gearshifter, dials and such things)
- carseat and necksupport
- dents, damage and irregularities needs to be added to get rid of the symmetry in the model.
- rivets (lots of them!)

tokiop: :) thanks, yep texturing this thingy is gonna be fun and at the same time a headache.. so many surfaces (phew!).

I did some more work on this, and it's still not yet finished :( what i've done is...
- reduced the size of the starter key and keyhole
- built the seat, gauges and steeringwheel ..well the entire cockpit.
- more tweaking done..

Lovely! I am following and waiting for updates. I believe you are about to have a lot of fun by brushing textures...please, don't make it brand new...give it an aged look

Wonderful, you're a fast modeler.

Here, you get a "Magnus Spider"

So, is this a known issue?
