Apart from stuggling with no documentation to use the network rendering which still crashes between frames (ok I know it is Alpha, or maybe i'm just doing it wrong) - once you construct and build friendly scenes MW has been thus far pretty reliable if a little slow.

Here are some of my first atempts with it.

great images 3dBob. I especially like the glass version.

The images are almost noise free, how did you achieve this? What are the render times like?

Thanks Guys,

Herve

I was a beta tester for Norm - a soon as the plugin came out I bought a copy - it really is fantastic, I hope he is encouraged to take his ideas for this type of a plugin forward with profile designer etc.

I think the trick with getting it noise free is to make shure there is enough light where it is needed and you have the right number of bounces.

I work with a 160 X 120 (or smaller) preview @ Low Quality - tweaking the ISO, Fstop, Illumination & bounces until it looks great at a Level 16. Then I crank up the render size and turn off LQ - works for me. No noise reduction has been done on these - they are straight out of MW. There is UV roughness on the floor that introduces noise. Metal took over 6 hours - Plastic 8 on a Dual 2.8 P4. The anim was network rendered and took as little as 2hours to LV16 on each of 4 Athlon3s running at 1.4Ghz.

Your dice are very nice ! and most of all , Noise free...
(you're right about light, but I hope we get free noise enders also in dark areas.. I mean in final release...)
