I have the following problem:
I render a scene with 4 buildings (#1 is shown in pic 1) and if building #4 (which is behind #1) is not hidden, an outline seems to do a "transparency" overlay in building #1

If I disable instancing, it renders fine.

Sorry if the pics are not clear, this is the area affected:

Actually, the outline that overlays on building #1 is not the outline of building #4 itself: If I hide #1, you can see #4 in the right background area.

I tried this:
Hide #4, and unhide its objects one by one to find if one of them is causing the problem. I could not isolate a specific object.
Same thing happens with other cameras.
I had a similar problem in another project with some trees but I found that by deleting some geometry and recreating it solved the problem. Again I had to unhide everything one by one and render, but now I can't really isolate something.
It seems that all geometry that is disappearing is instanced (for example, the balconies are instanced). So either I have to disable instancing, or make unique all instanced geometry to render. But there has to be something else...

here, balcony (1) is instanced and gets cut. No (2) is cloned as a copy, and renders with no problem, while (3) gets cut totally

This is a known instancing issue and it happens when having some world space modifiers or some voodoo geometry. Whenever you get floating geometry in your rendered image and you render using instancing turned on, you have to workaround it by turning instancing off. We don't have a solution to this problem yet.

thanks for answering, at least I will not lose my mind!
I do not think I have weird geometry, just boxes and lines extruded. My real problem is with the foliage, I will have to put 100+ trees, so exporting and voxelization will be really slow. Will the actual render time be affected, or is it just the export and voxelization phase?

Render time should be slightly faster without instancing if you have enough RAM.
