No other slowdown problems - only the color picker. Otherwise great plug-in, JD, thanks! :)

Actually I have an other small problem... but I think I'll put that in the bug section, when I have time. I'm busy even on a Sunday...

I upgraded my video card two weeks ago, from ATI 1650XT to Nvidia 9600GT. Suddenly, I have the same redraw problem described here! :P Color picker is super-slow to come up.

On the other hand, when I'm drawing a line (in Rhino of course), the text that hovers over the cursor is now perfectly legible. With the ATI card it was always scrambled.

edit: Here's something interesting. The Rhino color picker (which pops up if you click the layer or material color in the Rhino layers palette) comes up quite snappily. The MXED color picker is also snappy. Seems to be just the color picker that's part of the Rhino Maxwell plugin material editor that's slow. (The Material Editor that pops up when I click the "Toggle the Material Editor" button) and, fwiw, it's not that slow (at least on my particular hardware). Takes 3 seconds instead of being instant. Not really a problem. Obviously has something to do with the Nvidia graphics board I installed.

Oh, and my globe disappeared (on the Location tab of Scene Manager), but only on the secondary monitor, shows up fine if i drag the scene manager over to the primary monitor. Obviously, another Nvidia peculiarity (didn't have this problem with the previously installed ATI 1650). I'm fiddling with Nvidia settings and googling for more info, will report back if I find a cure.

All I can figure is that the color-picker uses some .Net (Windows GDI+ underneath) function that runs slow on some video cards. As for the Material Editor, it is really heavy, as far as windows go, so I can understanding seeing some lag the first time it's shown - but after that, it's already built so it should be quick afterwards.

I just changed my PC at the office and I'm experiencing the same behavior , very slow color picker. But i can make it work as normal by changing the hardware acceleration. So if some of you still have this problem, i suggest to go to the Display control panel, then Troubleshoot. From there, decrease the slider until the problem is solved.

At Siggraph, the machine I was using had this issue (slow color picker). As Hyltom says above, reducing hardware acceleration helped - in this case, it had to be moved down to where some DirectX things were disabled. I could not change too much on that machine, but I wonder if updating DirectX might have helped. The plugin does not actually use DirectX at all, but it is possible that the .Net Framework is using something in there, so anyone with this issue may want to try updating DirectX and see if it helps.
