Please post here anything else (not relating to Maxwell technical matters)

Looking forward to seeing the results with the new BIOS as I've been looking at this board myself for a little while.

I read elsewhere that Cinebench scores massively improve with the BIOS update so Maxwell should be the same.

usb stick and ezflash worked fine, the mobo manual is handy :P SF is enabled and the benchwell scene ony renders about a couple of minutes faster, installed PC probe and cpu 1 is hitting 60 deg is this safe? Can anyone recommend a good cpu fan(s)?
I was looking at zalman's website...

Cheers

With 60°C during load, you should be fine (if you aren't overclocking).

There are many good heatsinks on the market, i can fully recommend Zalman and Scythe from personal experience, but check out some up to date reviews/rankings on the web.

i would use coretemp to read the temps out... don't know how what temps pd rpobe is reading... but i don't know if coretemp works with this board.

is this 60°c with boxed heatsinks? if yes, i think you can lower your temps ~10°c or more.
the problem is that there is not much space on this board for big heatsinks. so i don't think a zalman would fit.
here are some pics with Thermalright HR-01 X on z7s. some fins of the hs on the right side had to be cut to fit beside the nb cooler.

Thanks numerobis, yeah the silly buggers who bought it put it in a pretty small case, the sata connetors areent even reachable, they have a 90 deg cable connection, so if you grab this board get a pretty big case so its easy to work on add/remove hardware, thanks for the info guys.

Those are some heatsinks numerobis.

Finally finished my 'octo' last week, based on a Skulltrail D5400XS, a pair of E5420s & 8GB fb dimms........
had to replace stock coolers with Zalmans & I'm reasonably impressed.........bit noisy though.

I originally got a Supermicro X7DBN board [and the recommended Supermicro RAM]
but for some inexplicable reason I just got a bunch of memory errors before it even got to BIOS
......just wouldn't fly at all.
