Camstudio is free and works great, but the files sizes are huge, I tried looking for different codecs but no luck.

I needed to record my screen for a 40 hours seminar and Camstudio would have killed me.... especially since my system was formated as fat32 (max file size 4gb)

Camtasia, has its own files, that keep all the information in a small size, then it give you a whole bunch of different options on how to save it. I end up choosing a swf that had a built in table of contest (LOVE IT!)

try the 30 days trial... you'll see what I'm talking about

dunno.. he gives a trick to compress the avi.. from 135mb.. to 5 mb...
