Place your bets gentlemen, who's gonna take it home this time?

I think i'll go with Italy, though i'd rather not see them win.

You must mean this one:

Still played on the streets of Kirkwall every christmas day & new year.......there also used to be a women's Ba in the 50's but it was too violent so they banned it.

'Mass football' was in existence in Roman occupied Britain, was the height of fashion on May-days in the middle ages........it'd always been the 'game of the people' in the UK even tho' we're total cr*p at it these days!

Btw, one attempt at the Ba was enough for me.........too many scores get settled in the scrum!

Considering the fact England failed to qualify, I shall be bitter and twisted and am not bothered in the slightest who wins the tin pot trophy!

Bubbaloo, by real football, I hope you don't mean that girls version of Rugby with pads and helmets do you? A shambles of a sport! :P

True Glebe, Britain is now terrible at playing the game we invented, but we still have the best league in the world here in England, and my managerless team Manchester City will be bigger and stronger next year with our Thai Millions! Watch this space!!! I am ready for another false dawn to appear...

Hopefully "ManYoo" PLC will be relegated... I digress....

Football is akin to a game of chess. Very strategic game. A thinking man's game.

Where's the strategy in soccer? The coach says, "All right, men, this time I want you to get in there and kick the ball... uh... into the net."

Soccer is just so primitive. A bunch of guys running around kicking a ball back and forth... ZZZ. It's time to evolve, people! :P :P

ah !

... and i thought all these breaks (in A. football) and timouts (in basketball) are just there to have time for the commercials.
so its all about tactics. i see.

unfortunatly we in the rest of the uncivilized world are just so primitive, we love football (soccer).

now back to topic:
i am really looking forward to the EURO. it is going to be a close one i think.
all pretty good teams !
go germans go !

I agree with Bubbaloo, American games (baseball, A.football, basketball...) require a little bit more strategy than soccer but personally, soccer give me more pleasure to watch. Anyway, the best of all collective game is rugby.
And for the Euro, of course i will be behind the french team but they are in the killer group, will be hard to pass.

Oh and Bubbaloo, your remark about "Soccer is just so primitive" and "It's time to evolve, people!" are not really welcome. I know that some American are fanatic of strategy, so much that they love the most strategic "game" of all time...WAR. But that doesn't make them more smart than other. So i don't know who need to evolve at the end.

well Hyltom.. no offense but all these group games are somehow primitive... hence the big worldwide success...

what I don't understand is the ridiculous amount of money these guys get... and to do what..? buy ridiculously expensive cars... it's like actors... phewwwww.. poor world..

This is why all kids are becoming nuts... in this world it looks like the more you work, the less you make ($)

... and TV & media contributes to that by throwing gazoline on an already big fire...

"How do you bring back a paysant to the farm, after he's seen Paris... (no not Hylton... hehe  )
