i just tried the ptgui PRO demo...

it works like a charm !

i mean in hugin, ALL the images have to be matched with markers and in ptgui pro it just guesstimates a preview and you just fix the image-pairs that have too few control points... sweet.

no problem with learning curve so far... :)

hmm. it seems the D90 will arrive soon. is it possible that this cam will be superior than a D200 or even D300 ?

but ... i mean ... stitcher does it just perfect !

absolutely no issue about aligning series of shots ! man... stitcher is just wonderful !

i tried this series 2 x 6 x +-30 degrees (@ 10mm sigma wide rectangular). no chance with ptgui to find the correct aligning at the first attempt ! (no shots to floor/ceiling done). no adjustments. nothing !

now i know why stitcher costs 800 bucks...

I was not aware thet PTGui could ahandle .hdr files... I was doing the whole opposite. I was stitching the photos first and then in photoshop merging them to hdr...

Now that Realviz has been acquired by Autodesk you may like to try this.

http://www.autopano.net/

Sorry to dis Autodesk but I use 4 realviz product 2 of which have already been canned, god know what to expect regarding license transfers & upgrades etc. I didn't fare to well when they acquired Alias either.

sad to hear that, BB :?

hmm... autodesk seem to have the desire to control it all... and in the end ... i guess ... they will just go up with the prices since they have the monopoly position...

i was already happy they did not kill maya !

this is my first (demo-stitched) 4x90+1 fisheye pano ... weird black watermarks this time !

okay... now i got it all...

• manfrotto tripod
• flm lb-60 leveler
• nodal ninja 3
• 8mm f3.5 sigma fisheye
• autoPanoPro

the last is extraordinary cool. after the facts on their homepage (hdr stitching from brackettet shots, ghosting removal, ...) and the price, i deceded to go for it !

*pheww* now... i can work !

well... fullres stitching to .hdr of raw/nef images can be a little p.i.t.a. !

yesterday evening, i shot a pano with 7 brackets (-6, -4-, -2. 0, 2, 4, 6 EVs) by always quadrupling the shutter speed in each direction.

i got 35 images, each around 8 megs... so stitching was nowhere in the 7 hours afterwards...

i think i'll go better for just fine .jpg settings and only make 5 exposures (like -6, -3, 0, 3, 6)

off to work ! :)

jpeg to hdr is generally better.

I still shoot raw as it is better when trying to get rid of chromatic aberrations & general image clean up before stitching.

For flash authoring your panoramas try this
http://gardengnomesoftware.com/pano2vr.php

It also has some cool remapping features.

shooting brackets manually is not really cool.

today, i was out and shot 75 images for three panos, which i wanted to stitch to three .hdrs.

first i checked in auto-mode, what f-stop and what shutterspeed is appropriate for the average brightness.

i had all on manual and white balance on «artificial light, value zero».

a series of the original shots: (check the colors)

1/8:

1/30:

1/125:

1/500:

1/2000:

the stitched results:

1/8:

1/30:

1/125:

1/500:

1/2000:

so as we see, the stitched .jpg result for each exposure group gives very weird colors that don't match the original color of the exposures at all...

what could be the problem ?

ok thanks for explaining. actually I do copy the T[…]
