There are a few of us on here who seem to specialise in jewellery modelling and rendering so I thought it might be a nice idea for us to have a gallery of just jewellery work, for the purposes of having one thread for our finished work for comparison and critique etc.

I guess I should get things started... I'll post some more soon.

I am a goldsmith and have been building more and more of my rings in Rhino and rendering with Maxwell. Your renders look terrific! Here are a couple of mine using the same ring but playing around with some different backgrounds.

Hey nice, improving Cary, good work!

Maybe try putting some super subtle bump maps on the metal to give it that imperceptable imperfections that make it look so much more believable.

Also, make sure every single hard edge is beveled/filleted by a small amount as perfectly sharp edges look wierd.

Furthermore, for straight product shots of vanilla designs like this, i think it's better to use a HDRI with a limited colour range which is inkeeping with the range of colours that would be reflected in a light box environment.

I'll post some stuff here. I think when creating hdr softbox images, you need a set of 3 or 4 with deifferent contrast settings to bring out the reflective gradient of the metal, and contrast in sinteliations of diamonds.
