 Oh I know Frances, it had to be said.

I'm studying this at the moment in Uni and up to now my knowledge suggests that so much glass at your lattitude is not a good idea.
I'm more often wrong than right though so take this into account.

all the best

No worries Adri, hope Uni's going well. :-)
One thing to note about the location, we have the highest 'mean' winter temperature in the UK, we rarely get frosts........of course this could all change when the gulf-stream shuts down.

Once built, we'll see just what it's like...........if I end up working in gloves and arctic survival suit I will of course post some pics and tip you the wink. :)

Have you rendered it with physical sky at the right location and orientation? The roof slope with its sun panels should look South, isn't it?
Also the glass openings will work as heaters if are hit by sun; best orientation should be East, West and South; more South as your place gets nearer to the Pole.

Or maybe I'm wrong, who knows...

Thanks Fernando, yes it's great being right on site and seeing how close the light plots are. :)

This is early evening today, pretty close:

Excuse the crap breeze-block material, in that floor will go damp-course, insulation and finished floor level to start of steel frame.......coming soon. :)

Finished floor and plastered walls:

That white thing sitting on the beams will eventually be a surfboard, overhead storage for stuff I want to grab quickly. :)

I don't know if you will get to that situation but I would plan some kind of ventilation that you could manually open/close in case the place gets too hot. Some holes placed high at the wall or the roof would do. By convection hot air will go up and cold air will go down.

Maybe it never gets too hot there, I'm thinking from Madrid. :)

Edit: ...hmm maybe if you could open the top windows... how smart I am! :P

Re-edit: It's looking great already! :D

Thanks Fernando. :)

Yep you're way ahead of me  the plan is for those top windows to all open.............my excellent Polish carpenter will be making all the frames from scratch from good ol' English Oak.

Steel arrived today.......and just got hold of some free scaffold bar [for the leg] plus salvaged kitchen worksurfaces for the 'U' desk..........it's all on a very tight budget!

A light plot @ 2pm today at this location:

Not much happening here, on a gig so this is all having to wait.

Steel's here, and shuttering almost ready for the concrete pour. :)

It's starting to shape up ever so slowly now Stu :) ..it almost looks finished, except for the fact that you haven't pieced it together yet :D btw, is that your quadbike ? it looks like a ton of fun to drive around with there.

Solid bedrock, so all we need is a level, it's low at the front but deep at the back..............the pipe's a sub-floor drain just in case............

There's no flood risk, right? I thinking it may slide at the front part if water hits hard. It's probably protected by the slope at the back, but maybe if you could make a square hole at the free corners on the right side of the picture so the concrete gets a bit into the ground there you would protect the thing against side moves. You said it's stone, phew, maybe too much effort for the risk.

Nah no flood risk, but I did think about a 'corner plug' in case of acts-of-god etc........mind you, that rock is hard going with a pinch bar.........believe me I know!
