I hope daros responds to this soon... i really want to test this new release, but without the function of creating materials... it is a problem (adding textures work). Maybe some one can post the XML file for a material list... then perhaps I'll be able to see stuff in it and maybe even add more... just a guess.

bakbek: My specific problem is adding new materials to an existing set - they are not always seen by the assign material function.

Are you having problems because the 'add new' box has gone from the updated MatadorLight? If so try right clicking in the area where new materials are added. You should then see a list of options appear under your mouse pointer.

Again. I see the problem with one single imported layer of OBJ format.
This obj formats are a bit strange.
Please download Matador Light again.

More OBJ fixes available.
It looks like OBJ have some dialects.
Every software writes OBJ in a different way.
Crazy.

Daros: Just to let you know the recent revisions to Matador Light seem to have done the trick. I am now getting all the layers in objects exported from Cinema4D using Riptide. Thank you.

I Like Matadorlight because of the workflow and simplicity of use. Having the ability to apply materials to the model via – materials or geometry is great. But having the ability to reload the object into the scene is missing IMHO… when I tried to load some objects into a current scene so that I add more geometry – the current info was dropped and only the new came in, I guess this is how it is designed to work.

What if we can add geometry as we go along, updating the model or replacing some geometry while keeping the material assignments???

Just a thought… this could make the workflow even better.

ive just had in running for about 10 min, its looks sweet, but to manage the camere the way I liked was a real pain. Thats something you need to work on in my opinion.

NK: I too find the camera a little difficult to use but considering MatadorLight is free this is something I can live with until the time is found for another update. The recent improvements were very good.

My cam' problems start at the time of importing - there is no scale factor to use so it's pretty much trial and error when importing something from other software - In my case, as .obj files, Cinema4D 8.5 using Riptide.

So, too large (or small) and there doesn't seem enough movement in the cam' as a way of compensating - this uses up much time keep having to export from other software to get the scale right.

Perhaps in future it may possible to rescale a scene within MatadorLight, please?

As already mentioned in another post, it would also be nice to have the ability to move/rotate the imported scene. Moving the camera to set up the render can take a lot of time also.

I agree with Becco_UK, there is hard to get get the view you want with no chance to set a pivot point, I would like to have the same option to move the camera as in rhino or maya :) But I think that would be too good to be true :)

And something else, I dont know if im the only one with this problem, but whene importing the obj file from rhino a got one layer with the mesh attached to it. But the problem is that I cant select anything else but ALL the parts together so I can only put one material to separate obects in the scene. And if im importing the diffrent parts into matador the one im importing delets the one allredy imported and just replace it.

Damn that must be hard to understand, but the thing is that I cant select separete parts after imported the obj file into matador. So I cant apply materials to the things I want.

Hope you understand and have a answer of this

EDIT: Maby I have to put the objects into layers from rhino and then export :) ill try it out
