[Maximus3D]

Hi!

I'd like to share some of my latest experimental sparetime work with C4D users on this forum, some of you may already have seen this on CGTalk but for those of you who haven't here it is..
This i did to see what could be done with this sweet but rarely used module i been playing around with it for the past 2 weeks now, trying to see if i could find a use of it and maybe even use it for work later on.

Thanks Frosty unfortunately these can't be brought to Maxwell, they require Cinema4D with the Sketch&Toon module, but if you have that then you can use these shaders in combination with your Maxwell renderings (postwork required) for some fancy artistic looks.

Thanks Max, nice job. I absolutely love S&T! It's one of those tools that always seems to blow people away. I haven't done a lot of combined renders (S&T with Maxwell) but I can honestly say that I have more customers flip over S&T renders than anything else, especially when animated.

seco: You're welcome and it's great to hear you like S&T that much and also that you actually manage to sell S&T renderings to your clients. That's something i'm interested in trying but i haven't yet been able to find anyone interested in buying anything which is not photoreal looking, noone seems to want sketches/artistic impressions of 3d models. Maybe you could post some small examples so i could see what kinda work you do with S&T, it would be interesting to see.

Hello Max, happy that you like sketch and toon´s module becouse its really my prefer render engine. Nice examples you´ve done. I hope this thread arrive to page 30 or more

Oz: Thanks a bunch it took quite a bit of work to get them to look like that, i'm still learning to work with it and what you see in my CGTalk thread are my first examples done with it. Great fun plugin to use, you should try it Ozzie.

jespi: Hiya and thank you it's a great engine to work with because it gives you so much freedom to create stuff which is not photorealistic looking. With Sketch&Toon you can go crazy and very artistic instead of spending hours finetuning materials, lightsetups, camerasettings and such things. Page 30 here i doubt it.. not that many of us on the Maxwell forum uses S&T (yet).

Hervé: Many thanks the sketchy C example is quite good but i personally prefer a couple of others.. such as G1 and G2 think it was, and also the two first sketchy one's. They're quite natural looking, like a rough sketch with some crazy lines thrown in there to mess things up a bit more...

So, what do you think of C4D? I've used Lightwave over the years... switched to modo... but I want to move to another full 3D package (with a good Maxwell plugin!).

I've considered XSI and C4D... but the Sketch/Toon module is something I've lusted after for years now.

Any comments would be appreciated... thanks.

Charles: Thank you very much C4D, i think it's good and most important of all very stable. The only issues (crashes) i had with it has been because of poorly coded plugins which caused it to crash. Besides that it's rocksteady. What C4D is like to work with, it all depends on you as a user and artist.. what you feel comfy working with and if the tools suits your needs and requirements. You won't find every tool you need in C4D as you do in programs like Maya or 3dsmax or Lightwave, but what you will find is a application which is easy to get started with, a application which is userfriendly even for people who never touched C4D before.

Sketch&Toon is a real nice addition to C4D, although it's a unappreciated plugin with few people who actually use it. They may have it but somehow they never seem to use it.. i noticed there were interest when i started this thread on CGTalk which was nice to see.

Try the demoversion Charles and try it for a while and see how and if you like C4D, it's the best suggestion i can give you. It's even better than listening to what i say and think about it.
