These 3 shots were all taken with camera settings as follows:
Shutter: 1/60
f-stop: 4
ISO: 800

The lighting is as follows; 5 halogen spots @ 100W ea., 2 recessed incancesdents @ 100W ea, 3 little halogen spots behind the frosted glass @ 50W ea., and the table lamp which is a 100W incan.
The skylight is the radsky HDRI from Dosch that came with the last MR update intensity 5.

I find that they are a little too sombre, but I don't know how to lighten it up without compromising the "reality" of it. Any and all help much appreciated.
Also feel free to give constructive criticism on other aspects.

I suggest opening those blinds and letting the light in.
Also, it's not unheard of to add hidden emitters to lighten things up.
Maybe adjusting the color of your your emitters a little "cooler" might help.
I find the incandescent lights too yellow.

lighting dark walls is very hard, it needs extra lights, maybe a few fake trick

Thanks guys. I've opened the blinds, and boosted the W and correlated colour for all the bulbs.

I've got one cooking now and although it still will not be the final shot it is looking so much better. I'll post it when it is a little less noisy...
