Reason for me running Windows on mac is for benefits of Windows at cheaper mac price. I.e. I can use software that can't be installed on mac such as Solidworks etc etc.

Got it. I never really compared prices, so I didn't realize that Macs were cheaper. I'm a sucker for convenience, which is why I purchased the BOXX as I knew it would instantly run all my software (which I've invested far more money in than hardware.)

Dilbert, I have both Machines here... a Boxx & a Mac...

with the Boxx, I could just go PC world.. now with the Mac, I can go both worlds..

another reason is the noise... Boxx computers are really noisy, I have develop an "accouphene in my left ear over the years...

.... and.. in the Boxx, I've had to replace many things... CPU fans mostly..

Ask Mike Verta what he think about Boxx... he had some too... no more.. and to finish the rant, Boxx PC's are way overpriced for what it is.. a real mess inside.. so many cables going everywhere... poor construction....

BTW, getting WinXp64 to run on my mac is I am sure very easy.. it is just me... and even though I was a little bit lost, I succeded..

@ Will, ... my keyboard works, but I am missing the right side (num), but I am sure I will find a way..

It's so funny to read something talking about the fact that would be easier to plug and play a Win machine! Just kidding dilbert, because for years the plug&play philosophyhad been one of the mantras of the mac-addicted! Leaving jokes apart, i can bring you my own experience during the last 8 years of my life with macs, and i haven't spent one single day during this years regretting for using them. Not once. No hardware faults, no need of one of those "men of the computer" ever sit at my desk, even from the very beginning. Now i own a MacbookPro, one quad MacPro and one octa MacPro and i couldn't be happier. Reliability and ease of use have been already talked about, as well as how smoothly these machines run (i work with both thw towers running on my desktop, 1m from my face and showing me the back, and i almost can't hear them), but talking again about money, just consider this: with the Octa i have 8x2,8Ghz=22,4Ghz and it costed me 2.750€ with 4GB RAM. I believe that the price/Ghz ratio is amazingly low, don't you think so? :D

Hervé, another reason I wouldn't go with the Boxx machine is that I know folks who worked for them.

Their stories do not inspire confidence.

How much faster (for maxwell) is the octo core over the quad? I've got a quad and thinking of buying same mac as Herve... is it worth it?

Running benchwell, i got a bench of 1023, while running it with my other macpro 2x2x2,66 i got something like 493...so it seems that maxwell can take full advantage of the whole computing power. The octa is surely worth the buy, getting twice the power of the quad for a relatively small amount of money (450 € for the 2,8 Ghz version)

press the 'clear' button while on the windows side (it's the button that's in the same position as the 'number lock' button on a PC keyboard)
