Please post here anything else (not relating to Maxwell technical matters)

Hello bjorn,

Well from my point of view, NO!, there is no reason to buy brazil because if you need a biased renderer the best option is Vray for rhino. What can offer brazil that can´t offer vray?

Thanks jespi.

Yes, I wouldn't know. Ok, from another perspective then, How is it to learn as a first time rendered you reckon? How it it's speed?

You mean Vray? I would say that vray can acquire very good quality-speed ratio, about 98% percent maxwell´s quality. But at the beginning vray is not as easy as maxwell, i mean, you have to learn which method is the best depending of the situation, but when you learn it you love it! I have been using maxwell from beta version, and really like it, but i´m architecture student and most of the time i can´t afford wait two days for render an image. Now i use vray almost all the time and no miss maxwell. I recomend you to test vray for rhino www.asgvis.com .Also, to learn vray i recomend the training by Chris Nichols, he is a vray guru, he use 3dsmax but the parameter are the same within vray for rhino. Here two links:

Thanks you Jespi! Have you used Brazil? how is that for learning?

You are wellcome!. Yes, i´ve used brazil but long time ago, about three years. I´m not the best to speak about brazil, i mean, i have no idea about what is new in brazil 2.0. When i used to use it, brazil was very easy to use because of its global illumination capabilities but have been really quiet for two year. For me vray´s quality is by far better than brazil, but maybe someone with better brazil´s knowledge could give us some better information.

I many cases mental ray produces faster and better results than vray and is free with 3d studio. It is however even more complicated to use than vray. I find mental ray the best to use for exterior renders, and vray for interior renders. Maxwell is perfect for product/photo-like shots.

It has been a few years since I used final render, but from what remember, it was very similar to vray in functionality and performance.

final render is complicated…each scene seems to need different settings; though the last time I used it was Stage1…FRdirt was cool

I own Vray and Maxwell for Rhino. At the moment, daily I use Vray for Rhino and I love it. The speed is great and 90% of my projects couldn't be done without this speed.

I short tested Brazil some weeks befor, but I found no way to get the needed results. OK, it was a short test, but I feel, the usage is more difficult than of Vray. For example if I like to use HDRI environments at VfR, than I go to "Environment", but I found no way at Brazil for Rhino to set HDRIs.
Also often I have seen Brazil images with an ambient occlusion look, that I don't like. I'm not sure why, maybe the most user use AO.

Also, a big advantage of Vray is the light cache method, that I use allways. It allow to get a fast preview of the complete image ala Maxwell and is be used to speed up the next calculations like Irradiance Map and Reflections.

At the asgvis forum are some starterkits from me with hints. Maybe this helps to get a start. Also, the ASGvis tutorial section should be very interesting, for example for creation of materials.

This images are the images I mean too - I suppose so AO calculation is used or the gamma workflow isn't right. The images are realy nice, but not photoreal, more graphic art. Maybe, it's only a question of my personal taste.

I miss more photoreal examples, not so much reflections experiments. For example something like my old VfR examples:

For design and architecture VfR match perfect.

Micha nice work as allways, despite what render you use, after all it comes down to the artist.
Personally I would rather lose photorealism than clients
