Any features you'd like to see implemented into Maxwell?

Refreshing to hear this! :D

Maintaining quality is ofcourse good, but it cannot be kept at such a high level so that users need 30-60 or 90+ hours to render images clean enough, or a massive renderfarm. A standard dualcore should be possible to use and still get resonable rendertimes, and at the moment i don't think that's possible. I cannot afford to spend 20+ hours to render a image, electrical bills run way to high for that to be possible.

Yes Max, but there's no quality for free. :) We're here to improve it though... but not fake it.

It does... You're right... Well, I look forward for the next release and will save money for my extra Quads :D

Once, in the history of such a discussion, a happy end :D Thanks!

Please everybody!!! Don't shoot !!! ... just a personal opinion...

JTB I think wishing to have those great Maxwell gallery results faster (I feel the same) makes you miss the whole point.
Maxwell is "Maxwell" = Maxwell quality standart, all around the world because it is unbiased.

Now think about the following. What will be in two years ?
Game engines running on GPU's with all biased tricks there could ever be invented.
Nvidia bought Mental Ray... why ... because that is the next real time quality.
Put a HDR there a parallel light there for the sun ... some normal maps and everything looks like the good old Toy Story 1 (or even better) in real time.
Awesome for the kids...
What will happen to all biased render engines... who knows ... maybe AMD will buy a few of them... and I think Mental Ray was smart enough to see this and leave the show right in time.

On the other hand.. at the same time...
X core machines for a few hundert of bucks. X times faster then the current ones.

Things will get better and better, with who knows what new discoveries, due to the Nextlimit research. Just look back to see how much happend in the last year only.
So I think that putting all energy into real physics simulation research is know how that will value the most in this field.

I watch the daily news on 3dtotal.com and I see stuff out there being put in upcoming game engines, that looks better than Toy Story 1 or Bugs Life...
I know it seems all like so far away but so many things happen so shortly that I think NL has to stay on their target and not lose time to research competitive biased solutions that would worth nothing in 1-2 years...

[EDIT] ... there may have been some other guys who were eager to look into the "down written" math and reacted to the current moment.
So a lot of semi-unbiased renderer come out these days. Optimized for the current desire to get this quality faster... BUT ... no R&D ... just optimizing code ... maybe optimizing some stuff there and some stuff there... who knows maybe the eye won't see it...
The same story was with raytracing in the past years.
This kind of attitude goes no where and many will abandon these projects that will seem pointless in the near future

So, is this a known issue?

Thanks a lot for your response, I will update and […]

did you tried luxCore?
