Very interesting. Just did a test drive.
Too bad it doesn't seem to be able to output any 3D file types.
Unless I'm missing something.
Thanks for posting the link.

glypticmax...

I have not tried the program... but looking at the documentation I see that you can export surfaces as .obj or POV .inc files... see under "File"...

Hi MrCharles,
No "Export" options under File that I can see.
Only Save and that is limited to png or jpg.
The Documentation I see doesn't mention Export or obj, etc.
I downloaded Windows version and played with it.
Are you looking at another version?

Well, I'll have to download and see...

but looking at the on-line documentation for the "File" Menu shows "Save surface as Single .obj file" and Save surface as Multiple .obj files" in addition to POV...

see here...

Hi MrCharles,
Those aren't the docs or menus that came with my download.
The menus in the docs you linked to look quite a bit more enabled.

mmmh. though it looks really promising neither the java nor the windows version show a possibility to save it as obj. or any other 3dformat I know. Just some internal 3d-format.

I just loaded the Apple version, and the options are identical to those I see on the Windows version.
I wonder where the version is that matches the docs that note OBJ as an export format.

3D-Xplor-Math is the version that has the OBJ export option. I just loaded it into a Mac here at school and it works great.
MrCharles, the menus in this older version seem to match the docs you have been looking at.

Hi mrcharles,
Yep, its Mac only. I know.....thats a bummer. I only use PC's for my work, but just happen to have access to some new Macs in my school's library.
My guess is, they will add more functionality to the "J" release that is multiplatform. Let's hope the export options are near the top of their list. The original Mac version I played with, seemed to have quite a bit going for it, that the new version is lacking. Some good user options in creating unique shapes. I think helps if your name is Turing or Einstein so you come to it with a grasp of math=shapes. I am sooo lacking in that regard.
