Finally Matador Light + source code is ready.
We made our own 3D translators.

C4D format will not happen, simply because it's not documentetd.

It makes more sense in terms of future compatibility to write out the neccessary information in a structured way from Cinema using the Cinema SDK than to write an importer anyway.
Plugins usually survive a few version steps, while the format may change on any version.

If you can share the 3D files with importing problems please copy them into the correct folder in a subdirectory with your nik name.

ex:

incompatible-3D-files/3ds/daros/house.3ds



So it will be easy for us to fix the bug.

I'm having problems importing XSI files into MatadorLight. Julien Confalonierie says that it used to work but the XSI option has dissapeared in 1.02.

I've tried exporting from XSI as obj but no luck there either I just get the message:-
"Info System.IndexOutOfRangeException: Index was outside the bounds of the array."

Any ideas. I'm desperate to get XSI rendering with Maxwell. Your software seem the only solution at the moment.

Hi.
It is true that there's a problem importing .obj files generated with XSI into the latest version of Matador.
A workaround: Use a 3D converter utility (ex: Biturn http://mirex.mypage.sk/index.php?selected=1 and reexport to a new .obj file or whatever accepted by Matador. :wink:

Hiya and thanx for the updates to this excellent piece of software :)
However.. can't the rotation of the objects and/or camera be fixed somehow, now u have to rotate the objects u import before u export them from your other 3d program or else it's really tricky to get them aligned and set up properly in the camera view. And sometimes the scale of the imported objects is soooo much off that they're almost invisible, so tiny. A sorta "autofocus" button that automatically zooms into your imported objects would be helpful.
That's about all i can think of now, most trouble causes the rotation of the camera/objects..

I'm having a problem with .obj files exported from Cinema4D using Riptide as the exporting tool.

In the first version of MatadorLight the layer names would be the same as the materials I had applied to the various objects in the scene.

With the revised version only one material is being identified and applied to all objects, thus I end up with one layer in Matador light.

I have tried many different ways to export the .obj file from C4D and the problem is always the same.

I can't add new materials ! ! ! somehow this function is not working. what can i do to fix this ?

bakbek: I've encountered the problem of not being able to add new materials too - usually not showing in the assign list when I wish to use a new material.

Because of the 'obj import problem I tried exporting a simpel scene as a .3ds file. The layers where created properly. However, I'm having problems when trying to make an emitter - most times when this is applied, to my emitter object, no light is emitted. I have tried high power settings and different kinds of emitter. I have tried one poly planes, a cube and a low res' sphere as the emitter object and neither gave out any light (normal direction is ok).
