Any features you'd like to see implemented into Maxwell?

i wish the support of multi-layered .psd files in mxed. it'd be so useful to store all maps in one file instead of having multiple files to handle.

color, color90, bump, normal, displacement (16bit file, i know) and so on, all could be in one texture map !

the only thing needed in mxed would be a dropdown-list that shows all the available layernames to choose from the desired file.

example:
myShinyWood.psd
--> layers called:
- c
- c90
- n
- r ((rough/specular))
- d

an other handy feature would be to keep the chose layer name the same and simply alter the psd file (with the same layer naming of course) that automatically updates, without having to re-reference all the different files.

* * *

the .psd output as one file has already been wished before.

at least maxwell should be able to utilise a single alpha in a tiff file for example....
but full psd support would simplify texture resources somewhat.
I guess not EVERY user uses photoshop , perhaps only 90 %

hehe.... :lol:

i am not any more totally sure, but i thought a format like open exr can store all passes in one file too for faster file handling. next to other reasons of compatibility, this was especially designed FOR this...

...

the second part is about exr ( http://www.openexr.com/ ) and other format.
And now is also multilayered (I know the implementation in Blender http://www.blender.org/development/rele ... -graphics/ ).
The exr format itself can be readed by photoshop or in gimp using a plugin but I don't know how much is editable because the bit depth.

Also tiff support layers (pages) and alpha ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TIFF ).

I support this kind of approach that make handy to collect-share-reload images.

Ciao,
Ricky

It really is "the only way" to work with alpha channels. Producing extra files for alphas is nonsense - and leads to a lot of extra work for large jobs and mistakes happen pften. All my large constructions use psd files for materials - I can't transfer these into maxwell.
PSD functionality in materials would be a very welcome feature - PLEASE!!!

So, is this a known issue?

Thanks a lot for your response, I will update and […]

did you tried luxCore?
