Hi

In order to get better shadows I placed a large stretched cube and assigned it a maxwell emitter material.

On the other side of the scene I had lots of glass in which I didn't want the cube to be reflected so I tried playing about with the 'hide to' tags. Nothing worked. Whatever settings I choose it seems that the emitter cube is reflected in the AGS where I don't want it.

Can anyone suggest what I've done wrong? Or is it a bug?

TIA

Hidden from Reflections/Refractions didn't work? Upload a simplified version of your scene.

I'm at work but will upload a scene tonight. And yes that is the case. Shouldn't take a moment to test it yourself. 1 cube as glass + 1 cube as emitter and then add the hide from reflections tag to the emitter...it don't work!

It would be nice if it did!

TIA

Here you go.

Two screenshots. I can't upload the scene as I only have a demo version of C4D at work. It does however show the problem and I can confirm that it is a problem on both MAC and PC as my machine here is a MAC.

Well, that cube doesn't have any Hide to flags checked. Are you sure you're applying these tags correctly in Cinema? Which version of the plugin are you using? 1.6f3 is the latest, available in the download area.

As a general tip, you could easily check these things yourself by opening a scene in Studio when something strange is happening and you don't have to wait and stress for somebody to answer your questions and help you. It makes me feel stressed as well when every request for help has an exclamation mark (or three) at the end of it

Why are you using a cube as an emitter? If it's only ment to emit light in one direction, a single poly plane is enough and will render faster.

Thanks for the replies Mihai.

As you can see from the C4D screenshot above the hide to reflections tag is applied to the emitter cube...

I'll upload a C4D file in a short while...

good grief!!!

I've just seen that it's not just a matter of applying the tag...you also have to tick the box in the tag itself. Surely applying the tag should be enough...

rendering a test now and it's working fine.

Thanks for the help anyway Mihai...
