Hey all,

We just updated our Adobe package to CS3 and everything runs fine with the exception of Photoshop CS3 (the one that counts most here at work)

It takes at least 2 to 3 minutes to open ANY file 100kb or more which is ridiculous and freezes for a good 2 to 3 minutes when I go into the print dialogue to do anything.

Has anyone had this problem or know of anything similar?

I have Creative Design Premium CS3 but Illustrator fails during the installation....any help?

We've re-installed twice and it's not working any better. I've also installed their updates and searched the web high and low with no luck. It's aggrivating!

I know those long lags, mainly with illustrator since cs2 32bits. I have installed the suite on my dell laptop ..It's a shame for Adobe.

I use CS3 on XP_sp2 x64 and has no problems for months.

I have found that CS3 (and CS2) will both periodically bog down under xp64 - but not usually with opening such small files. I can't really help much, but I can confirm that there certainly seem to be some memory type issues with CS3 and xp64.

One thing you should probably try is booting up Pshop without the plugins active to see if its an incompatibility issue there. Just add a ~ (tilde) to the front of the plugins folder in the CS3 application folder and start up pshop. If the problem goes away you will have to weed through your plugins by hand and figure out which one is the hassle - but I doubt this is likely to fix your problem.

Good luck - I've learned to live with it for the most part, althought it's not always that bad.

I have tried 3 different machines with xp64 and had no better luck on any one of them.

Tell me this, when you hit print how long does that normally take? When you hit advanced settings in the print dialogue does that take double the time that it takes to open the print dialogue?

Opening documents has slowly gotten better over the past week or so, it's strange. The print thing is driving me crazy though.

Just tested it for you with a 140MB final file from a job: it opens in seconds (it's an LZW tiff, a psd would open almost instantly) and the print dialog box opens pretty much instantly too. I don't have an 'advanced settings' option, but all the settings and dialogs I could access open fine.

The slowdowns I run into are usually while working - things just hang and screen redraw slows to a crawl. After a bit it kicks back in, but it's random and unpredictable. Happens quite a bit though.

Thanks very much Jason - but I don't actually shoot professionally anymore. I don't think there is anything on my site that I shot. I strictly deal with compositing and retouching and giving things a look with stylizing/treatments - that sort of thing. I work with some extremely good photographers though - and that always helps

If you compare with the before shots you'll get a sense of my contribution

Good luck with the Pshop problems - Adobe was not much help on this front in my experience.
