8) 1.6 certainly feels like a new set of boots, benching just over 500 with my old opteron. :)

Ron Martin updates his 1.6 bench.

but I don't understand how the result is the same with 1.5 benchmark. :?

1841.2 vs 1841.2

It’s weird.

Oh, but your time at the top will be short.
As is always the case, something better is just around the corner.
Ahhhh hahaha! (evil laugh)
The new 45nm chips for the Mac Pros are rumored to be out in for Mac World, this will push the top Mac Pro to 3.2 GHZ.

I copied it over, he already had a patched 1.5 or even the full 1.6 before we knew about it, probably to make proper use of his special hardware.

Thanks Adrian! I saw the info field on the benchwell site today. I think it's perfect. I highly encourage everyone to tell us about their setup using this field, whether it's an off-the-shelf box or custom built, please tell us! There's so much more to getting the right system than just the proc/mem/OS.

This made me laugh!! I don't think you were trying to be funny, but I know I'm always surprised (shocked?) by Maxwell updates. You never really can tell when it's going to happen. doesn't matter what you read, what you hear, what you think, or what you hope and pray for... they just come out of nowhere like an earthquake.

What a shame! Today i ran benchwell on my girlfriend's new macbook, with the attitude of the expert that already knows that his mabook pro bought a year ago would blast that little white girly thing....
here's the results:
Girlfriend's macbook: 205
Expert's macbook pro: 185
Well...this means that my little home renderfarm community will accept another member!

Talking about home renderfarms, has anyone tried to run the benchwell on a mac mini? I am trying to decide if it's worth the buy of 4 of them or if it's better to flank my quadcore with the upcoming version of it.

is what voxelpictures entered correct? how come two opterons 270 with a bench of 300 something render it in less than 10 minutes, faster than loads of octa xeon with benches of over 1000s?

Adrian, I think you'd better change the name of MacPro to Xeon X5365 or other exact cpu name before late.
Can be done any time. But to be honest i've had it like that before "MacPro Quad (Xeon .... x.xGHz)" and Apple users kept adding their own Macs over and over. When confronted (), the response was that they weren't sure it was the right model. I mean there are like a handful MacPros available and the cpu-clock is a clear indicator which model you're dealing with imho.

But then again, maybe i'm too much of a PC guy.

Contacted him, awaiting reply. Seems out of line with the rest. Look how nice the benchmark/rendertime were in sync until that Athlon FX-72 ruined my fun
It's actually synced so nicely, that you could assume anything out of line by a couple points to be false.

By the way, a system with computer "name" (BOXX, Dell Dimension, MacPro Quad, Homebrew) and its insides (Xeon E5320, Athlon X2 4200+, etc.) would probably be the best. But, not gonna happen anytime soon.

I've heard that Dell launched new T5200 and T7400series.

T5400 and T7400 will come equipped with quad-core 5200 and 5400 series Xeon processors.

Maybe apple will do too but I don't know when.

In current table, imho we can't distinguish them. :)

I scored 305.28 with 1.6 and windows x64 professional, about 25% lower than PETER's score with similar spec and 32 bit xp?

I wonder what differences are between our systems besides that...
