The previous explanation is a little off... after a period of inactivity on the network line (internet) it disconnects from the network to prevent anyone from looking for IP addresses that appear to be open for hacking.

I looked it up here in the USA; you can buy a device to do this for about $40.00.

One thing I would point out; if you are running a router with NAT this should be a moot point. Also, most routers (?) have a setting in them that disconnects after a set period of time. Wouldn't this accomplish the same thing with hardware you may already have?

I don’t know what it is, or what they were thinking. Doesn’t look like a shredder, more like an external hard drive.
I found that other Data Breaker Mtripoli mentioned, but this looks like something else. Also that other product looks like a useless crap, or is it?
