Hi guys do you have any suggestions for which video card to get for my 9200.

I want to see if i can get one on sale maybe spend 200-250 dollars

I use solidworks, maxwell and not much else except photoshop and illustrator

I would like a quick fix for my computer now , and then use it in my possible build this x mas

the dimension 9200 has a gf 7900 gs, right?
i think a gf 8800 gt (~$200) has the best price/performance ratio atm. but if you can wait some weeks and you're willing to pay a bit more (~$300 with 512mb), the upcoming gf 8800 gts (~3. december) could be even better...
maybe i'll get one

...or you have to go with a quadro - but then you need more than $200 i think

solidworks - ati vs nvidia:

thanks numerobis

The 9200 i have now has a ge force 7300 le.

It get slow in soldiworks and maxwell when i have large objects or lots of triangles.

Thats is why I was thinking of getting a CAD card and not a gaming one...

wont i run into the same issues if I get another gaming card ??

i dont mind spending a little more if i can be sure that I wont get slowwed down in the work I am doing

I am confused :?:

 Ok... starting with this one you will get a big improvement with EVERY of the current cards, i think... even with the slowest gf 8xxx

look at the comparison table - and it's still no "LE" but a "GT" so your card should be even slower...

regarding the workstation card thing... i don't know how solidworks behaves, but in general the workstation card should do better
Maybe one of these cards would be the right choice:

PNY QuadroFX 570, GeForce 8600 GT, 256MB DDR2 ~190€
Fire GL V3600 256MB ~205€
