We just bought two 2x quadcore xw 8400 machines to our company.
I have also used 9400 earlier. They work without any problem.
Really quality machines. We also bought 10 8400 based machines for
render farm and they do the job like supposed to.

Hp have nice waranty that really works. Year ago power crashed from
one render slave. Next morning there was already guy from HP repairing it.

I sound like a market man, but in last few years I have bought about 30 HP
machines and haven't got any problems.

i worked on an HP workstation one year ago, i don't remember the model. I wanted to see if it was solid, and it was!!! Intensive tests, renders etc, and it never crashed.

I had a guy (from another arch firm) on Friday tell me...
Guy: A friend just got a new computer, but it's not a pc or a mac.

Me: :? what is it?

Guy: It's a workstation...

Me: ahhh, I see...

Guy: What is a workstation?

Me: It's a pc with a fancy name... just like your server sitting over there

(I just wanted make sure, I didn't miss something on my description)

thanks for all your enlightening comments.

for me a workstation is a good computer that gets put in the UGLIEST case ever designed. why the hell cant they make a $6,000 computer look half as nice as a $2000 gamers computer. most of us who use workstations are designers, so why do we get stuck with the ugliest, most un-designed computers on the planet.
