Hi,
I am looking to buy a new machine for my office and would like to configure it to be a super fast rendering machine. I went to the Benchwell website to see how different machines with different configs stacked up and was intrigued by what I saw. It looks like some of the faster machines are Macs with 8-core processors and a ton of memory. But they are running Windows instead of the Mac OS. I was planning on using my new computer exclusively as a render machine so now I'm wondering if I should have it run Windows since it looks like it's thats much faster than an OSX machine with the same processor and memory configuration. Am I reading the results on the Benchwell site right?
If that doesn't sound like such a crazy idea, would I run into any problems If I modeled in FormZ on a Mac running OSX and sent it to render on a Mac running Windows?
I would appreciate any kind of advice you all could give.
The Mac I'm using right now to render did pretty lousy when I ran the benchmark test.
Thanks in advance.

If i was in you, i would wait for the first tests with a Leopard optimized version of mxcl to make a decision.

That's probably a good idea.
Also, does it matter what kind of graphics card I have?

Not for render speed, nonetheless you will need a good one to manage complex scenes :)
