I'm looking for a nice easy program for turning the ML sequence into a video file.

It would be great if it's free also.

Could you point out any program for me?

Hi.

If I remember correctly ML throws out a row of bitmaps.
You can pull the row into this http://www.virtualdub.org/ and make a video file out of it.

VDub is free.

I need some help with VDub.

Could you help me with audio and video compression codecs for Vdub?

I would like to put in part of an MP3 song and compress the whole thing into xvid.

Hmm... I'm not sure how VirtualDub manages mixing audio and video tracks, never tried that one.

I would suggest using "regular" video-cut software (premiere, final cut, avid and such...) for this purpose.
About the codec thing... what is it that you've got problems with?
If I remember correctly vdub recognizes all installed codecs and uses them for encoding...

I have some more questions for you:

1.- In Vdub I managed to load the sequence of images and produced a video file of around 1.8GB for 600 frames In the video compression options I can only see 4 options: Uncompressed, Intel IYUV codec, and two from Microsoft. I have codecs installed in my computer so I can see everything, including divX, but they don't show. Maybe I don't have codecs to compress but to decode.

2.- In Vdub too I can only load WAV files; is there any way of loading MP3?

3.- About Maxwell emixer: what is the playback frame rate, 30, 25?

4.- In Blender, well, I don't know how to set the frame rate, how to add an MP3 file,... I managed to get the sequence in but not much more.

Any help would be great.

Hmm.. that's strange. You should have the possibility to encode at least in divx. Maybe go to their (divx)site and download it again.
For more codecs... there are a bunch of "codec-packs" on the internet with lots of codecs - also for encoding - included... Can't give addresses though.. has been a while for me... google is your friend in this case...

I had a look have to confirm... only saw wav. VDubs then offers to encode this wav into mp3, and mix it together with your video track. So it seems, that one would have to turn the mp3 into wav to let VDub turn it back to mp3 again?! Sounds weird.

I'm not aware of the emixer having set a framerate.
I'd guess that you define the frame rate by setting the overall bitmapcount together with the count of keyframes and the frameratesettings within your video app, no?

Thanks for your help Mesut, I was feeling a bit dizzy about this.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong cause I have several codec packages installed... Something I find weird is that there's no install file for Vub; I just run the exe; maybe it has something to do.

Regarding emixer's frame rate, when you play with multilight you do it with the timing emixer plays it; I mean, you hit play and see the preview changing with always the same speed. So when I make a video file I have to stich all the sequence together at a precise frame rate to get the same effect as in emixer. Does it make sense?

Sorry Fernando, had meant to reply yesterday.


In Blender, you set the frame rate in the render options window. Press F10 to open them and then look in the Format section.

Frs/sec: 25. Shift click to change numerically, or left click to increase increrements.

The 'Jpeg' button can be pressed and an export format chosen for your animation. Quicktime is one of the easiest to set up and use.

Not sure if mp3's can be loaded, I use .wavs due to their improved quality and sample rate.

I finally made it. I first joined the sequence of images in Vdub an saved as uncompressed video file, then loaded it into Ulead videostudio (a trial, but it's quite cheap) and made the composition with the sound file and added some titles; after that saved the composition as uncompressed avi and compressed to divx avi in Total Video Converter (also trial, but cheap too).
