Is there a way to avoid to refresh the material preview at every minimal change? In a scene with a lot of bitmaps tweaking it becomes very annoying.
Maybe like in the Maxwell Material Editor in which the user can decide when to launch a "Refresh Preview"...

I am actually on Autodesk VIZ 2006. Everytime I change any of the parameters of the material, or load bitmaps, the maxwell text window goes off and shows all the steps to refresh the material preview and the material preview in VIZ get recreated. It gets very annoing when I am trying to tweak a material, it slows me down quit of bit.

I looked on the Maxwell tab under preference and reduced the sampling level to 1 but didn't really improve the situation. I also tried to check "Manual Update" in VIZ Material Editor "Options", but it got even worst. Not sure if there is a way to disactivate the previews...

you can change the settings in the material editor so it only builds the material on activating the preview box.
Open the ME, click the options button and choose "manual update"
Ten the only time it will bother you will be when it renders when you're trying to get a material from the scene!

I tried that but it does not improve the situation. In Max you don't see the Maxwell text window scrolling text at all?

Yes, but only when I click "update material".

It sounds that it is a VIZ issuee...Thanks anyway for your answers. Greetings.

I suspect this isn't a VIS issue, since the plug-in makes some tricky hacks in order to determine when to update automatically. We'll make some tests and if there is a problem, it will be fixed for the next plug-in update.

Just wanted to let you know that it has been fixed and it will be available in the next plugin update.
