that is one funky return on that handrail…do you even need one on that side?

anyway, nice modeling so far--maybe more filleting/chamfering on the edges though?

designers can do "stupid" things sometimes…if you're an intern in an architecture firm, I'd definitely bring this up, otherwise just ignore my babbling

now, did you model the keyhole or just the cylinder? 8)

I'm the CAD and 3D guru... :D

Just the cylinder! I thought about the keyhole...

Here's the west face of the dock that I am currently modelling. I still have to model the dock doors that run all across the face.

That handrail definately does not pass ADA. He needs 12" plus one "tread" at the bottom, preferably with the 12" being flat.

As far as needing one on that side, it varies by inspector. Here in Texas it's not clearly written. Some places have returns on both sides, some have returns on neither. What really made me mad was we got hit on a project for only having a return on one side, but then I was walking past city hall here in Austin a month later and they have the exact same setup. And it was built long after TAS/ADA.

So, umm, yeah, back to the thread... =)... modeling looks very nice so far.

I am using the "bonediffuseplastic" for the building and "cameldiffuseplastic" for the ground for now. Texturing will come later.

Here's my current progress:

Whats your modeling software?

Looking good so far. I am also in the process of designing a warehouse.

modeling looks nice so far. I like seeing these wips so I can see other's work flow. It seems many people tend to build their scene first w/ just a basic material, then texture after...I normally texture as I go, maybe I'll change it up sometime.

That's how I do my personal projects. But at work, if I do textures as I go, I find myself wasting way too much time rendering tests.

So, is this a known issue?
