you can use the 'Bitmaps Default Path' option in the 'Render Options' part of the 'Add Job' dialog in the network rendering client. it is doing exactly this. or did i miss something? the selected path can contain the textures as well as the MXS, you can just use directly the pack and go folder for this.

The remote server says something like:

default bitmap path:\\NOSEMAN\MAXWELLSHARED\glass_all\materials

but then is says:
can't find file
/Volumes/WORKGROUP;NOSEMAN/glass_all/materials/xxx.jpg
