G'day!

Problems problems, anyone else run into a brickwall with these guys ? i have, and i don't know how to get around it. I have funds on a account there which i need to transfer to my Swedish bankaccount, however now my transfer limits are reached and i'm not allowed to transfer any more funds back to my Swedish bankaccount unless i'm a verified user, however.. that's the problem. To become a verified PayPal user i need to own a creditcard. And i have no creditcard, neither am i allowed to get one from my bank since i have no job and no income. Which means i cannot become a verified user and get ahold of my funds from my PayPal account.

I'm stuck!

What to do, any ideas ?

These days, you´ld think that banks could hand out cards without credit to use for things like this. I had a similar problem with a card for payment purposes, locked to a different account than my usual, and i even have both job and income. Irritating.

You could always ask someone trusted with a creditcard to open up an account, and than do a "payment" to that account.

It´s an awkward procedure though.

You could go to the bank and 'buy' a CC --- what I mean is, ... go to the bank and purchase a prepaid MC/Visa for like $20/$50 whatever .... It'll work/behave just like a regular card and you could use that one instead to become verfied.

#2: Just because you can't get to your own money doesn't mean you can't give away all of your money.
Meaning, ...find someone you can payout the Paypal funds to and have that someone pay you via check/cash/xFer whatever...(maybe W.Union?) ...you get the idea.

Rochr: Hm yes good suggestion, i'll guess i have to talk to my father and see if he's ok with me moving the cash to his creditcard. But i can't help thinking this is so stupid! the bank should issue me a card anyways. These are just so silly issues they shouldn't exist in the first place.

Chris: I'll look into that if we got such a system here where i can "buy" a card like that as you described. I sure hope so but i dont' think so..

Then there's that second annoyance when you move cash from a "offshore" account to a Swedish account, the exchangerates and fees will bankrupt you, meaning that once you get the cash there's not alot left as so much dissapear in fees and exchangerates along the way. But not much can be done about that, just take a big bite outta the sour apple and smile..

Well i can understand why it´s not a good idea to hand out credit cards to anyone just like that. Some people would probably max the credit on shopping, even though they couldn´t afford paying it back later on.

But why they can´t release an empty card without the credit part, one that you´ld have to transfer money to in order to use it, is plain idiotic. Having a card like that to use for payment/shopping over the internet would be ideal.
Guess they wouldn´t make much money on that though, so that´s probably why.

Great idea with the prepaid cards. Never heard of that system here actually, but worth a shot checking out.

yeah .. they're quite common now to give as 'gift cards' and for kids -- at least in the US.

But yep i agree Rochr, they should have a creditcard without credit so you just could use it like a regular card and buy stuff and put in money on. It would be great. Then again banks never do stuff which is great for their customers, only for themselves.

It's alot easier when you work for free, maybe i should start doing that again to avoid these stupid problems.

ah ah, I agree Max, all these bankers are..... bipppp....

Paypal.. forget paypal... you want t know something...? the paypal company for all europe is now here in Luxembourg, but the bank lobbying is so stark here, luxembourg people cannot use paypal .. just for paying stuff like amazon, etc.. you can't even receive money... no no..

as for credit card, the worse is in France, where normal credit card system is forbidden... what does that mean is that you pay what you spent.. at the end of each month.. no credit or such.. I even wonder why they still call it a credit card.. more like a payment card.. yep.. so no credit for French people... want a computer.. have $$ or go away.. and the bank ususally never give money for fast obsolete equipment.. this is why I am still with this old computer here... French people are really behind with banking stuff...

Chris: Yep those cards look nice but i don't think we got them over here in Sweden, or Europe. It's more of an american thing..

Hervé: That sounds strange creditcards aren't allowed there, it can't be for real. Although i can see several disadvantages of having creditcards, it's so easy to ruin your economy if you buy stuff on credit and then sit there with a huge bill you can't pay off, that part sucks. But they should have creditcards without credit, if that makes any sense. then you just put cash in it and use that, and when you run outta cash on the card you can't shop anymore.

martgreg: No that won't work, the money is in the PayPal account and i need it moved from there to my account in my Swedish bank and no Swedish banks have any type of connection with PayPal, hell they don't even know what it is when you ask them about it. But now i talked to my father and he promised i could borrow his creditcard to transfer my funds from PayPal onto his card and then further from there to my bankaccount. A hell of a workaround but it's better than nothing i guess..

Too right, just take a look at the Uk's debt figures.
I was going to suggest you set up another PayPal account and bump the funds across to that....a short-term workaround, but good to hear you'll be able to get hold of the green.

Hehe, you're right Stu actually i thought about setting up a second PayPal account but it was a bit smoother to ask father, then i wouldn't have to deal with PayPal's fees again if i moved the cash to a secondary account before moving them to Sweden. Hopefully in a week plus a few days i get ahold of it..
