but you are still talking about certain pages you don´t like (and i know a lot of flash pages i don´t like)
the backbutton of the browser can be enabled for flashsites - it is a bit of programming needed though (but when you have done this once you can reuse it next time)

but hey i don´t want to start a war here.
i only think there are good sites and there are bad sites in the endless interent space, wether they are flash coded, java or html ;-)

cheers

Yep, this kind of discussion is like polictics and religion...

End of hijak.

Nico,

Just a quick tip on html coding: You are using fireworks/dreamweaver and building each individual page from it. Try using templates. Take the portfolio for an example. Each page has all the interface images named portfolioX_rY_cZ.jpg . Then each new page of the portfolio one visits, all the images need to be loaded, with that assembling effect. If you start from a templeta, that will only happen for the first page, since the following pages will use cached images.

Thanks guys for all the input!! :D

Hi jdp, about my gallery, you're tight, I'll divide the thumbs into four small thumbs so that I have twelve per page

Hi Adrian, good one, I think I will size it up a bit.

Thanks Ricardo and Michael, indeed I just figured out how to use a template, will do that so that it loads much faster :)

Yeah i prefer this as well! Gives a feel of greater oversight, like you're further away and not digging throught the gallery like a mole.

Hi all, I didn't had time sooner but I'm running my new gallery in test mode.
Menu links aren't working on this page, only the gallery page 1 is functional
Have a look, and as always your opinion is very welcome:

Hey -
I'm sorry - haven't been keeping on top of this thread. I think the site is coming together, but I am not sure that the close-cut on white thing is showing your work to the best advantage. Your stuff is very good - but it feels very clinical this way. Have you played with some tones - much like the renders you tend to post? I think that would be better, just my opinion though.

Hi Brett,

Thanks!! you mean more environment in the images I show, like a ground plane and stuff? if so, yes I think so too, I will try and give every gallery page its own look and feel, so this way you get a clean page like this one and page two will be a lot warmer (no alpha cutouts) etc etc :)

The key aspect of a web page is to convey the nature and intent of your business in the least amount of time.

In this case we want to know exactly what you do (what services you offer). You only mention about some "modeling and rendering work", but this is not enough information in my opinion. Modeling ... you mean virtual models ? ... or rapid prototypes ? is it only for plastic molded parts ? or are you like a machine shop and can make more things than just plastic shells ? (do you handle mechanisms ? electronics ? gearings ?)

... stuff like that we would like to know when visiting your site.

Hi Thomas,

Thanks, and yes indeed I need to describe in short what people can expect, in the past view years I've gotten pretty experienced in making models ready for prototyping and after that injection molding, and a lot of the time I make metal parts like housings and stuff.
And most of the time for SimKits we just talk about what we are going to make next, like that Compass I made, we agreed at the office we need one and almost a week later we already had a prototype here, and now it's ready for injection molding.

Yes I'll make a small story so people get a small impression of what's possible, although it's difficult because it's such a wide range. :D

I like that your layout is clean and crisp, but I find it slow to load on my dsl line. Your webpage would load really fast and can look exactly as it does now if you were to use some simple css and lists tags instead of images.

If you wanted to really minimize filesize, you could make that background image one stripe sequence tall by one pixel wide and tile it, css lets you add drop shadows, but they're so subtle right now that you probably wouldn't miss them given the dramatic speed improvements.

Jpg filetypes should really be only for photo-like images, use gif or png for text, solids, and line art like your logotype and they'll be smaller and sharper.

Hi codygo,

Yes you're right, in the future I will use style sheets, I only noticed now you say so that I forgot to export as gif from Fireworks, it's simple to do so
Once converted I will use this page as a template for the rest so that it won't have to reload all images evrytime you click another page.
