There are several methods faking x-ray images and this is how I do it using Maxwell.
Maybe you don't need rendering x-ray images frequently but this could be the real deal when needed.
You have focusing, depth and density controls. Material and usage will be available soon. ;)

Defocused was my choice, not a problem. I think it's also adding to realism, especially when your object is not convincing. ;)
